Infant Massage and Star Wars

Carli and I went to an Infant Massage Class on Thursday. I really enjoyed it. This week we learned how to massage her legs, and she just cooed and looked around at all the other babies. After I finished her massage, she started to fuss for a nap and fell asleep in my arms. It was a wonderful bonding experience for us, and I hope that all the new mommies out there will give it a try.

At my class, we introduced ourselves and told how our babies got their names. If you didn't know, Carli was named after me, my mom, and my grandma. We all have the first name Caroline. My baby's first name is Caroline, and Carli is her nickname. I think I knew a girl in junior high who did that, and I always loved it. Plus, Chris's middle name is Carl, and his dad and grandpa are named Carl. We figured Carli was a good mix of both of our names.

One little boy was named Anakin(sp?) Skyler. His parents are big Star Wars fans, and his mom even admitted that her daughter will be named Pagmei(sp?), and her twins, if she has twins, will be Luke and Laia(sp?). As you can tell by all my spelling question marks, I am not a huge Star Wars fan. I have only heard the names, and I have never seen them spelled before.

What do you think? Do you think that if the parents are a huge fan of a movie that they should name all of their kids after the characters? What if that little boy grows up and hates Star Wars? He is stuck with his name, and forever will be asked if he is a Star Wars fan. Sure, that is a great conversation starter, but it could get really annoying. I am reminded of the guy from Office Space named Michael Bolton. He hated Michael Bolton's music, but was always asked if he was a fan.

At least they didn't name him Darth. Personally, I would never name my child after Star Wars - that's lame. Instead, my first son will be called Braveheart.

Brandon, didn't Anakin become Darth? So, in a way, the parents did name their little boy Darth.
I thought you were thinking about LaBrandon for a child name. :)
